I tried to recreate that feeling by creating a gif “glitching” the image. With only a 45 minute train ride to Penn Station in New York City, and even less to Newark, Hoboken and Jersey City, Belleville offers residents a value and. I know it feels weird to be in a space where you don’e belong, but…Hoboken Terminal itself feels odd…like it is a space out of our time, like it doesn’t belong in our timeline. The idea of being on a platform when you have no destination truly felt weird, but that was not the focus of my image. Which felt completely off, since I was not going anywhere soon. What caught my attention was how open the station was I could walk between the different platforms for the light rail, the New Jersey Transit, and even the bus. The infrastructure was…ancient, and it took a while to figure out where the PATH platforms were. My last stop was Hoboken Terminal, which was on the border of Jersey City and Hoboken (which is considered a separate city). Instead of heading to Grove Street, I headed north through several neighborhoods including Newport and Hudson Exchange. Since I could not stop my fascination with Jersey City, I made a return trip. “This is the train to Hoboken making stops at 23rd St, 14th St, 9th St, Christopher St, and Hoboken.”
